My name is Natasha Schwartz. I am running for the ANA Director-at-Large, Staff Nurse Board Position. I currently work as a Critical Care nurse in Portland, OR & Rochester, MN.
My partner is currently an internal medicine resident at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota which is where I spend most of my time.
In 2019 I graduated Cum Laude with my Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Concordia University, Portland.
I am a Registered Nurse with over five years of experience. I started my career in a step-down surgical and trauma unit. Two year ago I transitioned to Critical Care and currently work in a Medical ICU. Over the years I have taken on preempting new nurses & new hires, I have become a charge nurse, while continuing to advocating for my patients while working at the bedside.
I hold my CMSRN certification and will be taking my CCRN exam in the coming months.
I bring to the table a variety of leadership experience as well as direct care experience during one of the most turbulent times in healthcare in recent US history.
Currently, I serve as the New Graduate Director on the Oregon Nurses Association (ONA) Board of Directors. I was also voted into the Member-at-Large position on the ONA Board. My experience on the executive committee has allowed me to serve on the finance & bylaws committee. I also serve on various hospital committees as well as my bargaining unit's bargaining team.
I am the former President of Oregon Student Nurses Association (OSNA). During my time as a student I was elected on the Planning Committee for the Council of State Presidents (COSP) with NSNA.
As a nursing student and nurse I have traveled on several service trips abroad, including a medical surgical trip to Zimbabwe where our team performed cleft palate and cleft lip repairs on pediatric patients. I most recently traveled to Zimbabwe this May.
I would love to hear from you!
